Zebra Digital refractometer (o-50 Brix) offer several advantages, such as greater accuracy, automatic temperature compensation, and the ability to store and recall measurements. Digital refractometers are often more expensive than analog models, but they can provide more precise and reliable measurements. This model includes the following:

0 to 56 Misco BRIX digital refractometer
The MISCO Palm Abbe PA201 has a single Brix scale from 0 to 56 Brix. The Palm Abbe refractometer is fast, convenient, and easy to use. Simply place a drop or two of fluid in the stainless steel well and press a button. The custom-designed microprocessor delivers a nearly instantaneous readout in degrees Brix. Nonlinear temperature compensation is automatic and ensures that fluids read between 0 and 50 °C (+32 to 122 °F) are measured accurately.
The large backlit LCD display is easily read, even in dim light, and removes the subjectivity associated with interpreting where a boundary line crosses tiny scale divisions. And, it is so easy to use! The user interface consists of two buttons, one to take readings and the other to step through various menu options.
Calibration is automatic and does not require the use of special calibration solutions or tools. The Palm Abbe refractometer automatically calibrates itself to water and is ready to use in seconds. No more screws to turn and nothing to adjust.

Questions shops ask before they order
Digital or optical?
Digital for anyone who checks sumps daily or needs a number for a log. Optical when it lives in a toolbox and batteries are a nuisance.
How do I get percent concentration from Brix?
Your coolant data sheet gives a refractometer factor, usually between 1 and 2.5. Percent equals Brix times that factor. Our coolant calculator does the arithmetic.
How often should I check concentration?
Daily on machines that run hard, weekly at minimum. Concentration drifts as water evaporates; low concentration means rust and bacteria, high means cost and skin problems.
Is the calibration certificate worth it?
If your quality system requires traceable instruments, yes. Otherwise calibrate with distilled water and skip it.
